Reading a four-digit door code
The first two digits are the width in feet and inches, the last two the height: 2868 is 2'-8" × 6'-8", and 3070 is 3'-0" × 7'-0". The code only works when each inch value is a single digit, so a 2'-10" door is written out in full.
Common commercial sizes
Commercial doors are commonly 3'-0" wide, with 6'-8" and 7'-0" the usual heights and 8'-0" for taller openings. Pairs are written by the overall width, such as 6070 for a 6'-0" × 7'-0" pair. Check the clear width your accessibility code requires for the opening.
Nominal and actual sizes
A door size is nominal: the opening the door and frame fill. The door itself is slightly smaller to leave clearances, by the deductions the manufacturer’s price book states.
